Then Jesus gave them this illustration: "No one tears a piece of cloth from a new garment and use it to patch an old garment. For then the new garment would be ruined, and the new patch wouldn't even match the old garment. And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the new wine would burst the wineskins, spilling the wine and ruining the skins. New wine must be stored in new wineskins. But no one who drinks the old wine seems to want the new wine. 'The old is just fine', they say." (Luke 5:36-39 NLT).
A minister commends on the subject, "Fasting is what prepares you for a new anointing. God can't put that kind of wine in old skins. If you want new wine [power], new miracles, new closeness, new intimacy with Him, then it's time to call a fast and shed that old skin for the new." (Jentezen Franklin)
Another Christian leader wrote in his book "Prayer Summits":
If your heart is barren, something is wrong.
If your homes are coming apart at the seams, something is wrong.
If your leadership team is in a shamble, something is wrong.
If your church isn't growing, something is wrong.
If your church lacks vision, something is wrong.
[If there's a rift between any groups, something is wrong].
If your pride keeps you from doing something about it, something is wrong.
If any of the above are true, you and your church desperately need revival. Chances are it must start with you and the born-again pastors of your community and then spread to the people. Ultimately, revival tarries until 'your people, who are called by His name, humble themselves and pray.' Your people.
2 Chronicles 7:14 is a marvelous blueprint for achieving a fresh work of God in your midst. If revival is to come, your people must: humble themselves and pray and turn from their wicked ways. (Dr. Joe Aldrich)
